HopeRoad Publishing was invited by Words of Colour to deliver one-to-one sessions for a digital publishing event hosted by The Literary Platform. The Writing Platform provided an interactive day offering new and established writers the chance to find out more about the opportunities in digital publishing.
The informal networking day brought together different publishers, writing and digital support agencies including Words of Colour, The Curved House, The Literary Consultancy, the Arts Council England and the online writing community Wattpad.
HopeRoad Publishing spent the afternoon advising authors about self publishing and in particular e-publishing.
Rosemarie Hudson, director of HopeRoad Publishing, said: “The event as a whole was extremely useful for writers. I hope that the publishers and writers I spoke to found new insight into how digital publishing can help them alongside traditional forms of publishing. One thing I realised at the event was that there were many writers who need to be informed about what digital publishing can do and even more so how they can use digital media creatively to reach new audiences.”
Some of the panel discussions throughout the day included how to get support for digital literature projects, supporting writers working on digital platforms and, digital publishing and the writer’s identity.
“We need more events like this as it was very apparent that many writers need informed support on how to proceed, gain more of an understanding of digital publishing and the variety of ways they can get their work published,” Ms Hudson continued.
